Gill Hoffs grew up on the Scottish coast, studied Psychology, Biology and English Literature at the University of Glasgow, then worked with children with a variety of needs (ASD and/or EBD, mainly) throughout the UK. She lives in Warrington in the north of England with her son and Coraline Cat.
Gill has earned a reputation as a writer of non-fiction books about shipwrecks: these include The Sinking of RMS Tayleur: the Lost Story of the ‘Victorian Titanic’ and The Lost Story of the William & Mary: The Cowardice of Captain Stinson (both from Pen & Sword), and The Lost Story of the Ocean Monarch: Fire, Family, and Fidelity.
But before the shipwreck books, Gill had a collection of short fiction and non-fiction, Wild: a collection, published by Pure Slush Books, in 2012.
